Stobart Forestry undertakes woodland surveys for a range of clients requiring data & information to be recorded & reported. We have carried out surveys for private individuals & companies, as well as public bodies including Local Authorities & the Forestry Commission.
What we offer
- Basic woodland assessment – We will gather information on management & timber opportunities, woodland condition & threats present to trees.
- Woodland Surveys – A more detailed analysis is undertaken including measuring trees to ascertain stocking levels for management. Woodland features including biodiversity, constraints & tree health & condition are recorded & presented in a report for clients.
- Mensuration Surveys – Undertaking surveys using appropriate method to measure tree stock for future management & thinning regimes.
What happens after surveying?
After surveys have been undertaken, the options can be discussed based on the data & constraints present in & around the woodland. This could include:
Creating a Woodland Management Plan to establish a long term plan for the woodland & working to bring the woodland back into management. This could be via government grants or privately funded.
Lodging a Felling Licence as the Forestry Agent to allow operations in the woodland & to bring the woodland back into management through correct tree stocking.
Exploring avenues of funding & grants to assist with operations such as registering for the Woodland Tree Health Grant for Ash tree felling & restocking.
